Since it was founded in 1991, the Carolina Celebration organization has held an annual fund raising event at which guests have made significant contributions to the Dennis P. Thaw Memorial Fund, usually known simply as "The Dennis Fund". The fund was named for one of MAP's first clients who died of AIDS-related complications in September 1987.

The fund provides money to assist individuals with the cost of housing, utilities, transportation, and assistance in purchasing food, medications, and medical supplies.

Wedgewood is a Carolina Celebration sponsor. Several Wedgewoodians also volunteer their services for the event.
