When Wedgewood was faced with the need to cut down a huge White Oak tree many people assumed the tree would be cut down and hauled off. Instead, the felled tree remained on the ground to provide a habitat for some of God's creatures.
Several birdbaths have been placed on Wedgewood's property to provide water for God's creatures when are thirsty.
Wedgewood's FAITH Garden has birdfeeders stocked with birdseed and birdfeeders with suet. We like to take care of birds regardless of their food preferences.
The FAITH Garden has a suet birdfeeder. Suet is a special bird seed for wild birds made from animal fat. Suet bird seed is processed so that it will not spoil or melt in hotter temperatures which means you can feed suet bird seed to wild birds year round, even during hot Carolina summers.
Wedgewood has a Butterfly Garden separate from the FAITH Garden, but it also has a butterfly house in the FAITH Garden.
At Wedgewood there's "room in the inn" for Blue Jays. On our property we have two Blue Jay boxes.
Invasive exotic plants, like Bamboo, are not welcome in the Wedgewood FAITH Garden, but North Carolina's state flower, the Dogwood, definitely is welcome in the garden.
